Why Drama Games Are Important

Drama games represent an invaluable tactic in the Drama Teacher's or Workshop Leader's repertoire.

They are often the key to facilitating maximum involvement by all participants, whatever their age or ability level.

When carefully chosen they can help to maintain the pace of a session and offer a diverse range of teaching styles to enhance teaching programmes.

The books referred to are those that I would personally recommend as being of particular value in meeting the above requirements and have been seriously endorsed by other practitioners, who have found them highly workable within their current arrangements.

Note particularly David Farmer's Drama Games and Activities. It is an essential tool of the trade for those wanting practical ideas that really work. It draws on the expertise acquired during David's thirty year career as a highly acclaimed professional, working with actors,  teachers and  children in theatre and drama workshop situations all around the world.

Also worthy of particular note is Drama Games for Classrooms and Workshops by Jessica Swale, which contains a wealth of inspirational  ideas for those wishing to develop the use of drama games in their drama teaching
